We’re doing things at Moonrise Distillery like they’ve been done since the early 1850s. While at times it seems like an old-fashioned, inefficient process, our use of tried and true methods and time consuming double-distillation removes impurities for a more refined and complex craft spirit. And unlike most distillers, we let our spirits tell us when they are ready – aging by taste and not by time.
When creating high quality whiskey the “White Dog” created in fermentation and distillation is 40% of the equation. Pairing the spirit with the perfect barrel is imperative to producing the pleasant butter, caramel and vanilla notes characteristic of Moonrise Georgia Bourbons and Rye Whiskey.
As artisans we focus equally on the 40% “science” of distilling and the 60% “art” of barrel aging and blending. Motivated by quality we reject all alcohol that does not assure a smooth and healthy experience for our customers. Our commitment to quality at a fair price drives our sustainable recycling program to eliminate waste while assuring top quality.
