Kim and Jim Ryan met over 30 years ago in the restaurant business, both doing what they loved. Kim, waiting tables and loving working with the public and Jim, honing his skills as an award winning chef in Charleston, South Carolina. A simple friendship grew into a great relationship. They married and a dream was born. They wanted a restaurant of their own one day.
Life went by as it always does. Kim taught school and coached. Jim continued to be a chef. A child grew the twosome to three. The North was calling Jim, and Kim, not wanting to leave the south, decided upon Jasper, Georgia in 2000. Then life hit hard. Kim’s mother developed cancer and for the last year of her life, she talked about all of the things she wished she would have done. She spoke of the dreams not lived and she passed with those dreams unanswered. It was at that point that Kim and Jim knew it was time to live out their dream. It was 2007 and The Last Catch was born-a dream come true.
The first Catch was a little hole in the wall next to the then Piggly Wiggly. It was small, but it had great character, great food and great service. Word of mouth grew the little restaurant and in December 2014 they opened at their current location, 487 East Church Street in Jasper.
The upstate New Yorker, Jim, and the Charleston native, Kim, along with their son Taylor, who is also a chef and culinary grad, continue to put their heart and time in making The Last Catch the place for seafood and prime rib in the North Georgia mountains. Simply stated, they feel Proverbs 3:5 was a big part of their journey as they trusted upon God to lead the path, not themselves.
Thank you for choosing to dine with us. We are thankful that your path led you here!
